Pinnacol Employees Collect Food and Clothing to Support Local Nonprofits

DENVER, June 27, 2011 – As part of its on-going commitment to being a good corporate citizen, Pinnacol Assurance collected more than 2,300 pounds of non-perishable food and more than 4,800 pounds of clothing and other household items. Pinnacol was one of six Denver-area companies to participate in the weeklong 9Cares Road Trip, an event that benefited Goodwill Industries of Denver and more than 125 food banks in Colorado.

“Pinnacol has a long-standing history of giving back to the community,” said Ken Ross, Pinnacol president and CEO. “Our 600 employees enthusiastically embraced this drive and were generous in making both food and clothing donations. Thousands of families will benefit from what we collected, demonstrating that when we do good, more good happens.”

More than 50 Pinnacol employees volunteered throughout the weeklong drive, packing donated food and boxing clothing donations. Pinnacol offers its employees 16 hours of paid volunteer time each year.

“At Goodwill, we rely on donations every day to help sustain our programs in the community,” said Jesse Wolff, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Denver. “We’re incredibly grateful to Pinnacol for their support during this donation drive and for the work they do every day to help make Denver a great place to live and work.”

“The feedback we’ve received from our members who attended the conference has been outstanding,” said Helga Grunerud, executive director of Hispanic Contractors of Colorado. “More important, they’ll be able to put what they learned into practice immediately on-the-job.”
