Pinnacol Assurance Hosts 9Health Fair

Company-wide contribution helps largest volunteer-run health fair program in state


DENVER, April 22, 2010 - Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation insurer, served as a 9Health Fair location for the 7th year in a row on Wednesday, April 21 at its Lowry Boulevard location and donated $15,000 to the 9Health Fair grant program. The donation helps fund new and rural 9Health Fair sites across the state.

Approximately 170 Pinnacol employees volunteered at the event, which was held from 7 a.m. until noon, with 430 people taking advantage of free and low-cost health care screenings, making it one of the most successful 9Health Fair sites in the state. Last month, Pinnacol volunteers participated in packaging testing and registration supplies to help gear up for multiple 9Health Fair locations across the metro area. Pinnacol employee volunteers will also participate in an additional six health fair locations across the state educating workers how to avoid work-related injuries, as well as will help with student-run 9Health Fair programs and the Fall Family Health Fair in October.

Pinnacol employees volunteer as part of the Pinnacol in Action (PiA) corporate volunteer program that was created in 2003. PiA is staffed and managed entirely by Pinnacol employees. It provides every employee with 12 hours of paid time off to volunteer with one of Pinnacol’s seven nonprofit partners. Last year, 93 percent of Pinnacol’s employees participated compared to the national average of about 30 percent employee involvement in corporate volunteer programs.
