Two Members Join Pinnacol Assurance Board of Directors
Leadership and Expertise are Expanded on Pinnacol’s Board with Latest Appointees
DENVER, June 1, 2009 - Pinnacol Assurance announced today that Paul Pettinger, director of doing things better (quality) at New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, and Robert John “RJ” Jolly, co-owner and manager of Barbara Jolly and Sons Ranch in Kit Carson have been appointed to Pinnacol’s Board of Directors. This is the first five-year term for Pettinger and a second term for Jolly.
Pettinger brings unique insight to his position on the board with more than 25 years of business and quality improvement experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University and is currently on the board of directors of the American Society of Brewing Chemists.
“Pinnacol Assurance has been providing workers’ compensation insurance to Colorado companies since 1915,” said Pettinger. “As an executive for a Colorado business, I know just how important a strong, viable workers’ comp system is. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an organization with such strong leaders and a solid commitment to protect its policyholders, injured workers and their families.”
“We were extremely pleased to hear of Governor Ritter’s appointment of Paul to our board,” said Ken Ross, president and CEO of Pinnacol Assurance. “Paul’s strong management expertise and analytical skills will only add to the capabilities and resources of this esteemed group of individuals.”
Jolly has been appointed to Pinnacol’s board for a second term. He was first appointed by former Governor Owens in 2003. In addition to his service to Pinnacol, he is an active member of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association where he served as the chairman of both the Ag Policy and Labor committee and the Workers’ Comp Safety Committee. Currently he is the group’s treasurer.
“It means a great deal to me to be a part of the Pinnacol Assurance board and I couldn’t be more pleased to serve a second term,” Jolly said. “Pinnacol is the backbone of the workers’ compensation here in Colorado and as a member of its board I look forward to seeing Pinnacol continue to grow and thrive for years to come.” p>
“We are also pleased to have RJ returning to our board,” says Ross. “His experience on the board is an invaluable asset to us and his knowledge of Colorado’s small business community and agricultural industry ensures that an important component of the state’s economy has a voice in workers’ compensation issues.” p>
Both men were appointed by Governor Ritter in February and were officially confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 2009. Both terms expire January 1, 2013. p>
