In September 2002, Pinnacol Assurance is located at Lowry Business Park. Our building, located at 7501 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230, is centered near public transportation and nearby retail offerings, and offers convenient access to visitors. Lowry, formerly an Air Force base most recently used as a training center, has been transformed into a major residential and business hub. Where once there were runways, there are now beautiful new neighborhoods. Busy aircraft hangars have given way to quiet parks and picturesque baseball fields. Where soldiers once drilled, there is now a bustling business park, town center, college campus, and retail shops. Lowry represents the best of the old and the best of the new, and Pinnacol Assurance is excited to be a part of the future that Lowry offers!

Retirement Benefits

Pinnacol Assurance's employees do not pay into Social Security except for a Medicare tax. Instead, employees contribute to the Public Employee's Retirement Association (PERA). PERA allows employees to become vested after only five years, calculates benefits based on age and years of service at retirement, and is a fiscally sound, growth-oriented alternative, offering substantial advantages over Social Security.

In addition, Pinnacol Assurance offers a 401(k) Plan administered by PERA. Employees are eligible to enroll in the 401(k) immediately after beginning their new position. The plan offers 11 investment funds ranging from low to high risk. Benefits of enrolling in the 401(k) Plan include:

  • Tax breaks - Pre-tax saving for retirement.
  • Plan flexibility - Employees can contribute one to 23 percent of their salary
  • Online web access - Employees can review their account balance and make changes to their investment mix

Health Benefits

Pinnacol Assurance offers two comprehensive HMO plans and pays the major portion of the premium cost of medical coverage for eligible employees and contributes a portion of the premium cost for dependent coverage as well. Both HMOs, Kaiser Permanente and PacifiCare, are rich in benefits.

Domestic Partner Benefits: our employee's domestic partners are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and vision benefits.

PacifiCare is a network of more than 3,000 primary care and specialist physicians. PacifiCare operates 27 hospitals statewide, including 16 in the Denver metropolitan area. Members may choose their own primary care providers, allowing increased flexibility and choice when it comes to providing quality healthcare.

Kaiser Permanente provides high quality healthcare to more than 350,000 Colorado members through 15 full service medical offices and more than 580 physicians. Kaiser Permanente offers members a wide variety of services, all under one roof, including doctors appointments, lab and pharmacy services, extended office hours, and educational classes.

Dental Benefits

Utilizing Delta Dental, Pinnacol Assurance offers two plan options. Both plans cover preventative dental care as well as providing assistance with major dental work.

Vision Benefits

Vision coverage is provided at no cost to the employee and dependent coverage is available with a small premium contribution. The plan provides for a check-up and covers a portion of the cost of glasses or contact lens every 12 months.

Paid Time Off

Pinnacol Assurance understands the need for employees to have a balance between work and home and allows them the flexibility of a paid time off (PTO) bank. Eligible employees may use this paid time for vacation, sick leave, or any other personal reason. Full-time employees enjoy 20 days of PTO each year. After five years of service, they receive 25 days, and after 10 years, 30 days. Part-time employees enjoy paid time off benefits on a pro-rated basis. In addition, Pinnacol Assurance's employees also enjoy eight company-paid holidays each year.

Pinnacol in Action

Pinnacol Assurance has long believed in giving back to the Colorado communities that have supported us since 1915. To expand our philanthropy in Colorado, we have a Company Community Volunteer Program (CCVP) called Pinnacol in Action that allows eligible employees to take up to an additional 12 hours of paid time off to volunteer within the community.

Gainsharing (Bonus) Program

Pinnacol Assurance's employees work in teams. Each team has certain goals and objectives it is expected to meet. Under Pinnacol Assurance's Gainsharing Program, each team receives independent bonuses based on how well the team meets its goals and objectives.

Educational Assistance

Tuition Reimbursement

Pinnacol Assurance's employees are encouraged to further their education by assisting with tuition reimbursement for business related classes.

In-House Training

Pinnacol Assurance also has an extensive in-house training program that offers both career and personal enhancement seminars.

Educational Enrichment Award Program

Additionally, Pinnacol Assurance helps the children of its employees in their pursuit of higher education by granting up to $1,000 awards to graduating high school seniors.

Other Special Benefits


New Parent Benefits

Pinnacol Assurance provides car seats and baby items to expectant employees. A lactation room is also available onsite.

An Adoption Assistance Reimbursement Program is available for up to $4,000 once an adoption has been completed.

Employee Activities Committee
Pinnacol Assurance has a very active employee advisory committee that plans special company events such as the summer picnic and holiday party as well as pizza parties, chuckwagon barbecues and ice cream socials, that help keep Pinnacol Assurance a pleasant place to work. The committee also handles some of our charitable activities.

Employee Wellness Center
A wellness center including weight machines, treadmills, exercise bicycles, men's and women's locker rooms, and a shower facility is located onsite. A variety of fitness classes including Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Aerobics, and Nutrition are also offered and the company has an ongoing safety program.

Business Casual Dress
Pinnacol Assurance believes that every employee's appearance should reflect a professional attitude and support a comfortable, productive environment. Our employees enjoy a business casual dress environment with traditional business attire worn in appropriate customer contact situations.

Credit Union Membership
Employees are eligible for membership in the Colorado State Employee's Credit Union, which offers a wide variety of services.

Employee Assistance Program
Pinnacol Assurance offers an Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP) to help employees and their families deal with concerns affecting their personal life and job performance. C-SEAP is available to all employees and their family members and is completely paid for by Pinnacol Assurance.

Disability Coverage
Pinnacol Assurance's employees receive both short- and long-term disability at no cost. Short-term disability offers salary continuation up to 60 percent of salary for a short-term disability or any qualifying disability lasting less than 13 weeks. Should an employee's disability last longer than 90 days, long-term disability benefits may pay up to 66 and 2/3 percent of his or her salary until age 65.

Life Insurance
Pinnacol Assurance pays 100 percent of the cost for Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage at one times annual salary. Additional life insurance is also available for employees and their dependents.
