Pinnacol Assurance’s unwavering focus – on Colorado, workers’ compensation insurance and customer care – allows our employees to do their jobs better than those of our competitors. This personal style of service has translated into high customer satisfaction, deep loyalty, new business growth and, ultimately, financial strength and stability.
Our underwriters, for example, understand the regional and industry-related factors that can affect a policy’s premium. For our safety consultants, knowing the work Coloradans perform allows them to help our policyholders keep their employees safer.
But the true test of a workers' comp carrier is when an employee gets hurt. After a worker was killed on the job at Horton Feedlots, in Eaton, Colorado, the company was impressed with how Pinnacol handled the sensitive claim and its follow up.
Over the years, Pinnacol’s customer loyalty has translated into financial strength and stability. In turn, we’ve been able to do positive things for Colorado businesses and the community, such as:
Reduce rates: We lowered workers’ comp premium rates by 15 percent in 2008, saving Colorado businesses more than $76 million.
Distribute dividends: We distributed approximately $55 million in general dividends in 2008.
Support the community: We’ve reached out to the underserved in the communities where we live and work:
The Pinnacol Foundation awarded more than $296,500 in college scholarships to the children of injured workers in 2008.
Pinnacol in Action, our employee-run volunteer program, achieved an 80 percent employee participation rate in 2008 — well above national norms.
The Employee-Giving Program raised more than $68,000 in 2008 for local charities.
In 2009, we’ll continue to improve performance in the areas of customer service, Hispanic support and rapid response. Our responsiveness, in particular, is crucial to the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder. When UCAR scientists and engineers are injured on the job, global projects can come to a standstill. UCAR relies on us to prevent workplace accidents and return injured employees to work quickly and safely.
Pinnacol is the backbone of Colorado’s stable and competitive workers’ compensation system. We’ve been around for 94 years and have always taken care of the residual market — businesses that, due to their size or risk, cannot obtain coverage from any other carrier. Pinnacol’s disciplined underwriting keeps rates stable from year to year. Most important, we’re here for the long haul.
And in the years ahead, it’s likely Pinnacol will remain one of the few workers’ comp carriers in Colorado fully committed and financially stable enough to reward policyholders with dividends for their safety efforts.
With our triple focus on Colorado, workers’ compensation and customer care, we’re committed to performing at the peak, so our customers can too.
