About
Pinnacol Assurance
Did the legislation passed in 2002 change Pinnacol Assurance's
purpose/mission?
In June 2002, Colorado Governor Bill Owens signed House Bill
02-1135 enabling Pinnacol Assurance to continue operating
as the assured provider of workers' compensation insurance
as it has for nearly a century. Although our mission has not
changed, the following changes are now in effect:
Our name is officially "Pinnacol Assurance."
Our assets belong to the company for the benefit of injured workers and their dependents.
The state cannot utilize our assets for any other purpose.
Upon reaching our surplus goal, our board of directors will oversee our investments, and we will no longer have governmental immunity.
Our board of directors has expanded to nine members.
