For more than 90 years, Pinnacol Assurance has protected employers from unnecessary lawsuits and workers from financial difficulty. Today we are Colorado’s choice for workers' compensation, serving approximately 55,000 businesses statewide.

Pinnacol Assurance believes in giving back to the Colorado communities that support us. That’s why we approach community involvement with the same focus and integrity we bring to our regular business activities.
Our community programs include:
Scholarships
The Pinnacol Foundation provides college scholarships to the children of Colorado workers killed or seriously injured on the job-regardless of which insurance carrier handled the parent’s claim. Since its inception in 2000:
- The Pinnacol Foundation has awarded nearly $2 million in scholarships since 2000.
Volunteerism
Pinnacol provides every employee with 16 hours of company-paid volunteer time each year.
Pinnacol in Action
Our employee-run volunteer program coordinates convenient activities with six well-established non-profit organizations. In 2010:
- 98 percent of our employees volunteered at least once.
- Pinnacol sponsored approximately 5,852 employee hours in the community.
Employee-Giving Program
Pinnacol provides a 100-percent match on all employee donations during our annual fund-raising drive. In 2010:
- We raised more than $86,000 for the Mile High United Way through employee donations and a corporate match.
Work/Life Balance
We understand the pressures employees face in trying to balance work with personal responsibilities and interests. We also know that our employees are better able to meet the demands of business when their own personal needs are being met. Pinnacol offers the following types of work/life benefits:

Pleasant Work Environment
Employees appreciate our values-based culture, which guides everything from our decision-making to our interactions with each other. And sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference, like our business-casual dress code or artwork that lines the hallways of our light and airy headquarters.
We’re also big on celebrating our successes (that’s code for "eating.") Our employee activities committee organizes ice cream breaks, burrito breakfasts, and parking-lot barbeques at least once per quarter.
