Level II Accreditation Through Home Study
Clinical Corner
July 2011
Pinnacol’s SelectNet Credentialing Standards (Exhibit B on the SelectNet contract), require all urban primary care providers (PCP)* and specialists in the disciplines of physiatry, occupational medicine and psychiatry, to be Level II Accredited under the Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation (DOWC). A provider may become accredited by attending a two-day seminar in Denver or completing a home-study course.
Providers in remote locations or those who find it difficult to leave very busy practices often find that taking the home-study course is an excellent way to meet this requirement. The process is fairly easy:
- Submit the Level II Physician Accreditation Registration Form with the appropriate fee to the DOWC, making sure you check the appropriate space for home study.
- The DOWC will send all appropriate home study materials to you.
- Once you are ready to take the test, contact Kay Bothwell at the DOWC at 303.318.8763 to coordinate a location to take the test. It may be taken at most community colleges in the state with two weeks notification to the DOWC; however, it is also given every Monday through Friday in Denver.
- Test results are provided within 14-30 days from the test.
For additional information or the application for Level II Accreditation, visit the DOWC website or call 303.318.8763.
