SelectNet Providers Combine Effort to Help a Woman in Need

Featured Story

September 2011

On Sept. 8, a fundraiser was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Denver to raise awareness and money for a 23-year-old Cambodian woman who is suffering from Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). The woman, named Ka, would not survive this curable disease if she was still living in Cambodia.

Ka needs a bone marrow transplant. Cornerstone Orthopedic and Colorado Pain & Rehabilitation (CPR) doctors are researching ways to make Ka’s bone marrow transplant possible. They are also exploring options at The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and The Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Dr. Joseph Hsin, Dr. Daniel Ocel and Medical Assistant Amy Goeddel met Ka while on a trip to Cambodia in May. The physicians at Cornerstone Orthopedics started the Cornerstone Education & Research Foundation.

For more information about Ka’s condition or about the Cornerstone Education & Research Foundation, contact us via email.
