MMI: Maximum Medical Improvement
Terminology:
Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI): A point in time when a physical or mental injury has become stable and when no further treatment is reasonably expected to improve the condition. The possibility that the condition may get better or worse over time or the fact that a person is receiving medical maintenance treatment does not affect a determination that s/he has reached maximum medical improvement.Authorized Treating Provider (ATP):
- The treating physician designated by the employer and selected by the injured worker;
- A health care provider to whom an authorized treating physician refers the injured worker for treatment, consultation, or impairment rating;
- A health care provider selected by the injured worker when the injured worker has the right to select a provider;
- A health care provider authorized by the employer when the employer has the right or obligation to make such an authorization;
- A health care provider determined by the director or an administrative law judge to be an ATP;
- A provider who is designated by the agreement of the injured worker and the payer.
