While Colorado’s construction industry is experiencing impressive growth — adding almost 10,000 jobs in the past year — the state is also recognizing an increase in complaints regarding payroll and worker misclassification. Last week, Gov. John Hickenlooper signed an executive order creating a joint enforcement task force that will work together with state agencies to tackle the issue of misclassification and mitigate the risk of labor law violations.
The seven-member task force will include representatives from the governor’s office and the departments of Labor and Employment, Revenue, Regulatory Agencies, and Personnel and Administration. It also will include members representing the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters and the Associated General Contractors of Colorado.
Pinnacol Assurance will share its resources and expertise with the task force, as part of our ongoing commitment to protect the interests of you and your employees and ensure a well-functioning workers’ compensation system in Colorado. Please watch your email for future updates from us.
