It's pretty simple. We love our community.

For more than 100 years, our job has been all about protecting the health and safety of people on their jobs. And that sense of caring extends to the communities where we live and work. We donate time, money and support through grants, sponsorships, our employee volunteer program and the Pinnacol Foundation's scholarship program.

Pinnacol Assurance and the Pinnacol Foundation will contribute over $1.4 million in scholarship, grant, sponsorship and membership funding this year.

We created our scholarship program to ensure that the children of injured workers have the opportunity to pursue their dreams by continuing their education. Since we started in 2000, we've awarded more than $4 million in scholarships to over 450 students across Colorado.

Scholarships average $3,500 per student per year, and are to be used on tuition, fees and books at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational schools.

Our community investments program reflects the work we do as a company — keeping worksites safe, helping injured workers get back to work and stay healthy, and ensuring that Colorado has a prepared workforce and a strong economy. Our grant and sponsorship investments support nonprofits whose efforts align with these pillars.

Rehabilitative health services

Part of our job as a workers' comp insurer is making sure that people who have been injured on the job get the care they need to heal from or live with injuries. So an important piece of our community giving is support for organizations that provide rehabilitative care to those who are recovering from physical injuries or living with ongoing disabilities. These include:

Bonfils Blood Center
Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado
Chanda Plan Foundation
Craig Hospital
National Sports Center for the Disabled
SCI Recovery Project

Safety, prevention and wellness services

A key focus of our business is keeping our policyholders' employees safe and healthy. We carry that over to our community, by supporting nonprofit organizations that promote worksite safety and wellness, such as:

American Heart Association
Carson J Spencer Foundation
Colorado Safety Association
Health Links (Colorado School of Public Health)
Hilltop Community Services

Economic vitality and workforce development

Our commitment to helping our policyholders thrive extends beyond providing workers' compensation coverage. It includes doing our part to promote a strong business climate for our state, and helping to ensure that Colorado businesses have the workforce they need to succeed. In addition to participating in more than 45 chambers of commere and industry associations, we support numerous organizations dedicated to growing Colorado's economy and workforce, including:

Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Alliance
Colorado Innovation Network
Denver Public Schools
Mile High Youth Corps
Sedgwick County Economic Development
