Proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment reduces risk
When an employer has done everything possible to eliminate or reduce the risk of safety and health hazards, but the risk for exposure still exists, the employer should identify and evaluate any hazards and provide employees with proper personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE should be a last resort to keep employees safe. It's important to select the proper types of PPE and ensure that it is used and maintained appropriately.
OSHA may require specific PPE for your hazard exposures. Your employees may require additional training and testing. Contact your Pinnacol safety consultant with any questions.
