Planning ahead for a claim
Planning ahead is crucial to effective claims management. Not only must you know what to do in the event of an injury, but your managers, supervisors, foremen and employees should also know about and understand your claims management policies. Keep these things in mind when planning ahead for a claim:
- Designated medical providers — Make sure your employees are aware of your designated medical providers and that supervisors have copies of your designated provider list notification letter readily available
- Report injuries within 24 hours — Reinforce with your employees and supervisors that all injuries must be reported immediately
- Important forms — Provide your supervisors with Accident Investigation Report forms and Employee Accident Report forms so they can obtain pertinent information about accidents and injuries.
