Grants support initiatives in rehabilitative care, economic vitality and workforce development, and safety, prevention and wellness.

DENVER — July 24, 2019 — Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation insurance company, has awarded grants totaling $209,500 to 11 Colorado nonprofits in the first of two grant-making cycles for 2019. These grants enable Pinnacol to extend its reach beyond typical workers’ compensation insurance benefits to support programs that help injured workers get back to work after injury and stay healthy and to ensure that Colorado has a robust business climate and the workforce it needs.

“Our grant program is a powerful expression of our commitment to caring for the Colorado communities in which we live and work,” said Edie Sonn, Pinnacol’s vice president of communications and public affairs. “Community grants like these extend Pinnacol’s impact to important initiatives that are foundational to our mission and reason for existing, like enhancing care for injured workers, supporting Colorado’s economic vitality, and supporting efforts that improve safety and overall wellness for all of Colorado’s workers.”

One of Pinnacol’s 11 community grants goes to support care coordination initiatives of the Chanda Plan Foundation that improve rehabilitation service for injured workers. Chanda Plan Executive Director Chanda Hinton, MNM, said, “We offer care coordination so that all participants have help navigating cumbersome processes that come from living with a long-term physical disability. Care coordination ensures our participants are receiving the services they need, both within the health center and beyond. The care coordinator meets with all participants to help them navigate complex institutions, enroll in programs and access resources to enable individuals to regain independence in the community.”
