Pinnacol Assurance grants more than $81K to nonprofit Colorado employers to invest in safer workplaces

Safety grants will support employer-led initiatives that address known worker risks

DENVER — Dec. 19, 2018 — Pinnacol Assurance has awarded grants totaling $81,011 to 11 nonprofit Colorado employers to invest in specific risk-mitigation programs that will improve their employees’ safety at work. As Colorado’s largest workers’ compensation insurer, Pinnacol is committed to investing in and supporting employer-led safety programs that have an immediate, positive impact on employees. This is the second year in a row Pinnacol has invested in safety grants for its policyholders, and the grant recipients for 2018 are:

  • Colorado Mesa University
  • Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado
  • Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center
  • Goodwill Industries of Denver
  • Harmony Foundation Inc.
  • HopeWest
  • Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region
  • Mental Health Partners
  • National Sports Center for the Disabled
  • Pueblo Diversified Industries
  • Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care

These safety grants will help fund employers’ defined and specific safety needs for their employees, such as purchasing salt spreaders for icy and slippery areas, patient lifts for hospice workers, and even special cat-handling equipment that will reduce employee exposure to bites.

“We are here to help nonprofit employers that have identified a hazard to employee safety and a way to address preventable workplace injuries but may lack the full resources to purchase the equipment, added training or other tools,” said Chris Sautter, Pinnacol’s corporate citizenship program administrator. “These grants will enable access to resources that will immediately prevent injuries from happening, and we applaud these employers’ proactive approach to employee safety and well-being.”

In addition to safety grants, Pinnacol issues grants to nonprofit organizations that support rehabilitative services, economic vitality and growth, and safety of Colorado employees.
