Two new laws impact Colorado workers’ comp
At Pinnacol, we make it a priority to inform our agent partners about new laws that affect Colorado’s workers’ compensation environment. Since May, two new laws have been signed that impact workers’ compensation in our state.
- The first law, which passed in May 2018, makes it easier for first responders and others with repeated exposure to psychologically traumatic events to file a claim for workers’ compensation benefits as a result of work-related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
- The second law, which passed in July 2018, allows independent owner-operator truck drivers to carry occupational accident coverage in lieu of workers’ compensation insurance.
Pinnacol emailed Agent FYIs to our agent partners with detailed information about these new laws. If you didn’t receive these Agent FYIs, would like them emailed to you again or would like more information about how these new laws impact workers’ compensation, please contact your Pinnacol agency relationship manager.
