Important information about Other States Coverage and remote workers

Pinnacol is committed to the Other States Coverage program we offer our mutual customers. However, due to the COVID-19 impacts across the country, our OSC review process has changed slightly.

Here’s what’s different:

  • Please send us your submissions with OSC, and we’ll let you know whether we can write them. Our underwriters keep a close eye on the impacts of COVID-19 in other states, and we’ll consider them when making an OSC decision. 
  • Once the underwriter has released a quote to you, we’ll need a written request (an email will work) to bind coverage for a date in the future. 
  • Please note that we are unable to backdate coverage. 

Remote work during COVID-19

As the pandemic and remote working arrangements continue, there are things you and our customers should know about their coverage. According to Colorado statute, employees working remotely in another state for more than six months would not receive benefits under their employer’s workers’ comp policy (with the caveat that reciprocity agreements vary from state to state). That means some employers may need to purchase a short-term out-of-state policy.
