Update on Pinnacol's bill processing

Pinnacol has made headway in our backlog of provider bills. Even with this progress, the build-up of bills continues to delay some payments. As we work to minimize further delays, there are a few ways you can help us speed up the processing time:

  • Submit bills electronically through a clearinghouse — electronic bills reach Pinnacol faster and are less expensive.
  • Ensure billing provider details (HCFA box 33) are consistent for your organization, as detail variations can result in matching issues and cause delays.
  • Include the practitioner’s NPI on all bills.
  • Don’t resubmit the same bill multiple times.
  • Consider signing up with one of Pinnacol’s preferred clearinghouses to submit medical records and bills for the service together.
  • Sign up with Carisk Intelligent Clearinghouse to convert your faxed bills into an electronic format.
  • Consider ACH payments, which are fast (contact Optum Financial to complete the process at 888.920.0592 or achsupport@vpayusa.com).
  • If you have a merchant account to accept credit and debit cards, consider virtual card payments (contact Optum Financial with your fax number to receive virtual card payments [VCard] and avoid mail time).
  • Ensure your clearinghouse has Pinnacol’s new payer IDs as of April 1:

         Carisk Clearinghouse
          Pinnacol’s Payer ID = E4050

          Data Dimensions Clearinghouse
          Pinnacol’s Payer ID = CB746

Pinnacol has waived timely filing for providers whose bills have been impacted by the backlog due to our transition to a new system or the Change Healthcare cyberattack.

Our highest priority is that providers have an exemplary customer experience when working with us. We apologize that we have not been able to meet our usual high service standards. We’re actively processing bills to minimize further delays and promise we will return to our normal level of customer service as soon as we can.
