Pinnacol Foundation raises nearly $700,000 to support children and families of injured workers

DENVER, Sept. 15, 2026 — The Pinnacol Foundation announced today that it has raised nearly $700,000 over the past year to help ease the burden on families affected by workplace injuries across Colorado.

The Pinnacol Foundation provides scholarships and wrap-around support services to the children of workers who have been seriously injured or who have lost their lives on the job,  regardless of the insurer of the claim. For many of these families, a parent's injury brings not only financial uncertainty, but places a burden and responsibility on children that are not shared by their grade school peers.   These circumstances together can put a child's education and future out of reach.  In partnership with industry, donors and sponsors, the Pinnacol Foundation - now the largest of its kind in the country - helps close that gap.

Scholars at the heart of the mission

This year, Foundation supporters had the chance to engage with impacted families and scholars whose lives have been changed by the Foundation's support. The Foundation would like to thank Colorado students Tyler Smith, Bridey Smith, Grayson Smith, Mariana Reyes, Nicholas Carnival, and Alyssa Lee who each invested time to share their inspirational impact stories, and the importance of investing in opportunity for young people. 

Guests of the Foundation this year also include Chris Letsos, CEO of Kids Chance of America, and Colorado State Representative Chad Clifford (House District 37), both of whom have shared the broader importance of supporting children of injured workers statewide and nationally.

The Foundation's fundraising success this year was made possible by the generous support from more than 300 industry partners. Additionally, more than half of Pinnacol employees voluntarily invest to support those they serve.
