Alicia Allen

As Chief Financial Officer at Pinnacol Assurance, Allen oversees corporate strategy and development, financial reporting, business planning, enterprise risk, and actuarial functions. Allen is responsible for the company’s financial reporting and co-leads the organization’s financial planning, employee incentive program, and reserve committees. She also oversees accounting for Pinnacol’s $3 billion investment portfolio and reporting for the company’s internal structured settlement program.  

Allen joined Pinnacol in 2011 and held previous roles as Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and Assistant Vice President of Finance. She received national recognition when she was named Controller of the Year by The Controllers’ Council in 2025. Some of her accomplishments include integrating accounting processes and procedures for Pinnacol subsidiaries, overseeing improvements to financial reporting, assisting Pinnacol in successfully maintaining an A- rating from AM Best, and recently leading the integration of finance, accounting, and budgeting functions for an acquisition.  

Allen is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Professional Accountants (COCPA) and has served as the Audit and Statistics Committee chair of the American Association of State  Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF), treasurer of the Lowry Community Master Association, and treasurer of the Pinnacol Foundation.  She currently serves on the finance committee for the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) and is a graduate of the 2024 Leadership Denver class of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation.

Before joining Pinnacol, Allen worked as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche LLP and served as a senior vice president at Beecher Carlson, overseeing captive insurance operations in the Bermuda office. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Colorado. In her free time, Allen enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
